Three places shaped one chef

Chef Caleb Azuka was born in Nigeria, where food was communal, generous and alive with spice. His family relocated to Bologna when he was a child, and it was there that he fell in love with pasta, slow cooking and the Italian instinct for treating simple ingredients with profound respect.

Bologna gave Chef Caleb Azuka his culinary language. Nigeria gave him its soul. The years that followed, spent training and cooking in demanding restaurant kitchens across Europe and Asia, gave him the discipline to combine the two with precision and intention.

Chef Caleb Azuka arrived in Perth with a clear purpose: to open a restaurant that told the whole story, honestly, on every plate.

Italian technique. A wider world of flavour.

CALEB Restaurant & Bar is not a fusion restaurant. Chef Caleb Azuka does not mix cultures for the sake of it. Every dish at CALEB Restaurant & Bar begins with a classical Italian foundation: slow braises, hand-rolled pasta, wood-fired heat, aged cheeses and the patient restraint that Italian cooking demands.

From there, Chef Caleb Azuka reaches outward. West Australian seafood. Seasonal produce from south-west farms. Spicing and warmth drawn from a Nigerian upbringing. The result is food that feels entirely coherent, even as it defies easy category.

CALEB Restaurant & Bar runs seasonal menus that change as produce and inspiration dictate. Wood-fired cooking is central to the kitchen's identity, lending char and depth to dishes across the menu.

A heritage building with character to spare

CALEB Restaurant & Bar occupies a character-filled heritage building on Railway Road in Subiaco, one of Perth's most distinctive dining neighbourhoods.

The Dining Room

The ground-floor dining room seats guests for lunch and dinner in a refined, welcoming space. Original heritage details sit alongside contemporary fittings. The open kitchen, anchored by the wood-fired grill, is the room's centrepiece.

The Rooftop Bar

CALEB Restaurant & Bar opens the upstairs rooftop bar from late afternoon, seven days. The bar offers cocktails, aperitivo and a curated wine list in an open-air setting above the streets of Subiaco. Private event hire is available.

Refined, but never stiff.

CALEB Restaurant & Bar offers a dining experience that takes the food seriously without taking itself too seriously. The service is warm, knowledgeable and attentive. The setting is elegant without being formal. CALEB Restaurant & Bar is the kind of place where a long lunch can stretch into the evening, and nobody minds.

Wines are selected by the team with the same care as the food: old-world Italian classics alongside the best of Australia's small producers, and a handful of surprises from Sicily to the Western Australian south-west. The cocktail list builds on classic Italian aperitivo traditions, reworked with local botanicals and seasonal citrus.
